About Bayan Ancient Mosque / Masjid Kuno Bayan Beleq
The Bayan Ancient Mosque, believed to have been built in the 17th century—around 300 years ago—is located in the village of Bayan, North Lombok. Constructed using natural materials sourced from the surrounding community, such as bamboo, coconut leaves, wood, and thatch, the mosque reflects the traditional building techniques of the time.
For the Bayan community, the mosque holds deep cultural and spiritual significance. It is still used for traditional Islamic rituals and ceremonies. It is not only a place for traditional sermony but also a destination for pilgrims who come to visit the sacred tomb, as well as travelers seeking to experience Lombok’s rich history and traditions.
